On July 7th when disaster struck the City of Eureka in the form of an F-2 tornado the citizenry was well prepared. With a 30 minute heads up warning on their cell phones people paid attention when the sirens went off 15 minutes later. The result: Not one fatality or even injury. No one had to be transported by ambulance to the Greenwood County Hospital. There may have been some scratches and bruises but all in all the population was very fortunate due to an adequate warning and the appropriate response it generated. 15 residences and the Ranch Aid mill took major damage. Eureka Nursing Center was hit but luckily lost only one wall on the administrative section of the building.
