Lake Eureka
Boating, Fishing, Camping, Swimming
February 10, 2016
Lake Eureka provides abundant opportunities for recreation. Boating, fishing, skiing, camping and swimming are available to the public. There is a heated dock for fishing during the winter months when its cold. There is a handicap accessible dock located on the North shore next to a public shelter house. A public restroom can be found at the South boat ramp area next to the swimming beach. A city boating permit is required if you are engaged in any activity other than fishing. If you are ONLY fishing, you do not need a city boating permit as the city participates in the CFAP program with the State of Kansas. This program provides a grant program that gives us fish feeders and stocked fish. Of course a valid state boat permit is always required.
There are several fishing tournaments hosted at Lake Eureka each year that are well attended. One of the best that is also locally sponsored is the Tree Shakin' Showdown tournament. This includes an all you can eat catfish dinner made from the catch. Proceeds are put towards a school scholarship and a grant for children in need.
